קריאת השם "יוסף" [ע"י רחל] היתה ע"ש הבקשה "יוסף ה' לי בן אחר" [כמ"ש ברביעי דפ' ויצא]. ומבאר הצ"צ, שהכוונה היא לבן כזה שיעשה את מי שהוא בבחי' "אחר" – בחי' "בן". וזה הי' גם עבודתו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ששמו "יוסף", כל ימי חייו, בין בשנים כשהיו תחת גזירות איומות וכו', ועד"ז בשנים שלאח"ז כשהגיע למדינות הרווחה, הנה מיד כשהגיע לאמריקה התחיל לבטל ההנחה שהי' שם ש"אַמעריקע איז אַנדערש" ושב"אַמעריקע" העיקר הוא הגשמיות וכו', ענין של "אחר". וכ"ז מתוך מס"נ. והוא סלל את הדרך שעל כל אחד מאתנו ללכת בה – לעשות מ"אחר" – "בן".

Yosef was given his name because Rochel said, “May Hashem add another son for me” (as it says in revi’i of Parashas Vayeitzei). The Tzemach Tzedek explains that she meant a son who would turn those who are in the state of “other” into “sons.” This was also the work of my father-in-law, the Rebbe (whose name was “Yosef”) throughout his entire life, which he did with mesiras-nefesh, whether it was during the years of terrible decrees etc. or in later years when he came to free countries. Immediately upon arriving in America, he set out to abolish the mindset there that “America is different” and that in America materialism is paramount etc., which was a mentality of “other.” And he paved the way for every one of us to likewise turn those who are “other” into “sons.”
